■ Dialogue

When Steve got home, he saw that his sister Wendy was crying. He is asking her what has happened to her.

Steve: Wendy, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?

Wendy: Oh, Steve, I’m hot under the collar!

Steve : Tell me what happened, sis.

Wendy: Do you remember my friend Kelly? She made me extremely angry.

Steve : Did she call you names or something?

Wendy: No, she didn’t. She did something worse!

Steve : What is it? Just tell me!

Wendy: The other day, she asked me to lend her my favorite dress. But she ruined it by making a
              huge hole in the middle! Now she is insisting that she didn’t do it.

Steve : Are you sure Kelly did this? Maybe it was there before you lent it to her.

Wendy: No! I’m sure my dress was in perfect condition!

Steve : Well, then, you should talk to her about this again.

■Translation

스티브가 집에 왔을 때 여동생 웬디는 울고 있었다. 그는 동생에게 무슨 일이 있었는지 묻고 있다.

스티브: 웬디, 무슨 일이야? 왜 울고 있어?

웬    디: 아, 스티브 오빠, 나 굉장히 화가 났어!

스티브: 무슨 일이 있었는지 말해봐, 동생아.

웬    디: 내 친구 켈리 기억나? 그 애가 날 굉장히 화나게 만들었어.

스티브: 그 애가 널 욕하기라도 한 거야?

웬    디: 아니, 욕은 안 했어. 더 나쁜 짓을 했지!

스티브: 뭔데? 말해봐!

웬    디: 요 전날, 그 애가 나한테 내 가장 아끼는 드레스를 빌려달라고 부탁했었어. 그런데 가운데에 커다란 구멍을 내서 망쳐놨지 뭐야! 지금 그 애는 자기가 그러지 않았다고   우기고 있어.

스티브: 켈리가 이렇게 했다는 게 확실해? 어쩌면 켈리한테 빌려주기 전에 구멍이 나 있었 었는지도 모르잖아.

웬    디: 아냐! 분명히 내 드레스의 상태는 완벽했다고!

스티브: 음, 그러면, 이것에 대해 그 애와 다시 말해봐야겠다.
